JUDGING
Liya: Hello lovely ladies...I feel weird saying that to just the pair of you when I used to say it to a crowd of 16. Anyway, first off congratulations to you both for making it this far, you both are such amazing models and you both should be very proud, if I could choose two winners then you both would probably win. But I can only choose one, so who will it be? Let's find out by judging your finale tasks, starting with your Estee Lauder ads.
ESTEE LAUDER
Cara - You have a face made for cosmetics and you know it, so is there any surprise at all that you slayed this? Nope. Your face looks beautiful and all your features look flawless, I want to buy whatever is on your face if it makes me look this good. This is your signature look I'd say with the soft expression and captivating eyes which is so Estee Lauder, and even though I've critiqued you so often for the open mouth before, I actually don't mind it as much here. The only thing I don't like is what you did with your hand, it is a bit distracting and makes this look less like a cosmetics ad, but this is still a fantastic shot.
Thuy - Wow, I am so disappointed in you! You probably have my favorite face in this competition and I know you can slay a beauty shot, so what happened this time? First of all, this was literally the only usable frame in your film because it was the only beauty shot and you were shooting a beauty campaign, so I am very disappointed that you didn't listen. And even though this is finally a beauty shot, it looks more like a jewelry ad because the emphasis is entirely on the earring. And while your profile is nice, your bone structure just looks average here so you should've turned more towards camera with a 3/4 view or straight-on shot. I do think your jawline looks great though, and your skin also looks amazing and this still does have an Estee Lauder quality to it so it could pass as an ad, but you fell so far short of my expectations.
VERA WANG
Cara - This is a nice picture and your film was nice, but I kept flipping through it waiting for that one shot that really pops and it never came. This definitely does work as a Vera Wang ad though, you really captured her aesthetic quite well. You look very posh and sophisticated and commanding, you just exude expensiveness. I also love how you're stroking a cat, it adds to the luxurious rich bitch vibe that this gives off. I think you look very tired and worn out though, there are noticeable bags under your eyes and one eye looks smaller and droopier than the other, and there's not the usual fire in your expression that I've come to expect.
Runway - You had a great walk, the best you've looked on a runway so far I think because you finally relaxed your face. You look so pretty and youthful yet posh and expensive, which are all the qualities that Vera loves on her runway. You also have a good strut, my only critique is that your arms a little awkwardly bent out but otherwise great job.
Thuy - So, honestly, Cara destroyed you in the Estee Lauder ad, but for Vera Wang you blew her out of the water. This is above and beyond what I had hoped for, it's phenomenal. I love your pose, you look so tall and statuesque, your body looks amazing and you gave the dress fantastic shape, and I love how you leaned back and angled your arms. Your face looks beautiful and the snooty yet sensual expression is perfect. My only critique is that your neck is a bit tense and pushed out too much, but that's very minor and overall this would make a superb Vera Wang ad.
Runway - You looked amazing on the runway, but it didn't match Vera Wang as well as it could have. You were a bit more glamorous and sexy than she typically goes for, though you did look great in the dress and had the perfect amount of energy in your face and power in your walk.
VOGUE ITALIA
Cara - This is very haunting, very creepy, and very powerful...which are the exact qualities I was hoping for with this shoot, so you nailed it! I like how you kept your pose simple yet strong, it allows you to stand out from the terracotta soldiers without looking out of place and awkward. You make the dress look great and your face looks beautiful, and your eyes are very piercing, which is what really makes this stand out and work as a cover. My only critique is that your eyes are a little uneven and lack of focus, but that's quite minor.
Thuy - This is magnificent. Usually magazine covers require direct eye contact to sell, but the strong connection you have with something in the distance and the way you stand out by looking in the opposite direction of the soldiers really works. You just look so beautiful and fierce, elegant with a slight androgyny, and your expression and the pose are both very strong and your juxtaposition with the setting really makes this pop yet you still don't look out of place. My only critique is they way you leaned back, it actually made the dress lose some shape and gives you less power, but other than that minor detail this is stellar.
LEMLEM FRAGRANCE
Cara - This is a lovely photo, it definitely looks like a perfume ad. You look so fresh and beautiful, and there's a real timeless quality to this that I love. I also love that you completely stood true to the name of the fragrance, your eyes are glazed over like in a daydream yet they are not blank and still have a connection. I think you could've found the light just a little better though and I'm not too keen on what you did with your arms, but both of those are very minor details. The only other critique is that this blends in a bit with any other perfume ad, I'm not sure I'd really stop to stare at it in a magazine or on a billboard.
Thuy - This is one of my favorite shots of you from the competition for sure, maybe even my favorite. It's a bit unexpected and different from what you usual give, yet it also has your signature soft sensuality to make it your own. I love that you went topless and posed on the beach, it makes this shot sexier and sexy isn't something I've seen much from you. Your face is what really draws me in here though, you look so incredibly and effortlessly beautiful, and your eyes are just enchanting. I'm floored.
But, I will announce the winner tomorrow for sure, assuming the power doesn't go out again or something!
