PYRAMID CEREMONY

Elle: Welcome back ladies. It's that time of week where we cut down in girls once again. Karlie, Cara, and I have reviewed the results from this weeks shoot which was an iD cover shoot. iD was so impressed with the majority of you and decided that the girl who made it to the top of the pyramid this week would have her photo grace the cover of their August issue.

Let's get started with the pyramid which is a 5-4-2-1 structure this week. The first girl in the bottom row of five is...






























































Lynn.
Elle: We ended up choosing this shot for you because it was most fitting for iD's quirky aesthetic.
Cara: I'm just not getting much from this shot. It's like you completely relied on the styling to make this shot great.
Karlie: It's really just lacking energy to be honest. You're just kind of sitting there with a bored, blank expression.
Elle: You have such fun and lively styling and a huge smile would have been perfect for iD, but instead you just kind of sat there. Thanks, Lynn. The next girl on the bottom row is...

Ming.
Cara: At first glance I really liked this photo, but then as I saw the other photos, it became forgettable and just average.
Elle: I really like how you posed though. It's very edgy and quirky.
Karlie: I agree with the pose being great, but you're face just isn't selling it. We say it every week that you have such amazing and expressive eyes and this was the week that would have been perfect to use them.

Sophie.
Karlie: I was honestly shocked to see you perform so poorly this week. I thought after last weeks beauty shot that you'd nail it.
Cara: I feel like the shot is very iD, but they execution of the shot is poor. The eye should have been focused down the barrel of the lens and really just penetrating the camera.
Elle: I think Cara's comment was spot on. I love the smoking of the flower, but they looking off really throws the photo out of whack. Thanks, Sophie. The fourth girl on the bottom of the pyramid is...














Martha.
Cara: You're sort of in the same boat as Ming, for me. I liked this shot when I first saw it, but it blended in and I didn't remember it.
Karlie: I actually adore this photo of you, Martha and I don't think you deserved to be in the bottom row. Your eyes have a great expression in them and I love the whole Twiggy mod look that you're bringing.
Elle: For me, it's a mix between what Karlie and Cara said. It's a gorgeous photo of you and it really represents your natural beauty, but it doesn't stand out amongst the group. Thanks, Martha. The final girl on the bottom row is...














Nicole.
Elle: I think you were really close to getting out of the bottom row on this one. I like this shot. It's a little more commercial and fun and iD does often sway that way.
Cara: The one issue I have is with the mouth though. It looks awkward being open like that.
Karlie: I agree. The mouth isn't great. I just feel like it's a beautiful photograph of you, but it doesn't wow me. You've wowed me before and I want you to wow me again.

Karlie: I see a Spanish flamenco dancer here and--
Cara: A tired one.
Karlie: Can I finish?
Cara: *rolls her eyes*
Karlie: What I was going to say is that I see a flamenco dancer and it's really beautiful, but I wish there was more passion in the eyes. The Spanish dancers have so much fire in the eyes and you lack that here.
Cara: You done?
Karlie: Yes.
Cara: I feel like you really needed to bring something more in the eyes to this shot because we saw so much fire in your eyes last week. You really need to perform consistently well.
Elle: I think it's a very beautiful shot. I love the hand and the shocked expression, but I do agree that a little more energy in the eyes would have made this shot brilliant. Thanks, Daniela. The next girl on the second row is...

Elle: You got this shot on your first frame, Juju which is really impressive. I love the styling and your expression. You just look stunning.
Karlie: I really like your bone structure here. It looks sharp and strong. You look like a sexy captain.
Cara: I agree with both Karlie and Elle for once. It's a beautiful shot, Juju, but I just feel like the other girls above you did even better.
Elle: Thanks, Juju. The third girl in this row is...

Cara: That bone structure is amazing. Normally I see you as a more round-faced girl, but here it really shows that you still have amazing cheekbones and jawline.
Karlie: Your bone structure is definitely my favorite part of this photo. I also like the rawness to it. It's just sheer, raw edge.
Elle: I think the attitude in the shot is really bringing the shot to the next level for me. I love the pissed expression and how you connected with the camera. Great job, Liu. The final girl in this row is...














Sara.
Elle: This is fierce, Sara. Those eyes are just so intense. It's amazing.
Karlie: And you did it all with a spider on your face. You don't look scared or uncomfortable at all. You just look so confident. It's easily your best shot to date.
Cara: The only deducing factor for me is the mouth. I don't love the snarl. Other than that. It's an amazing photograph.
Elle: The first girl on the third row of two is...














Anna.
Cara: And I said you were forgettable...
Karlie: Yeah, you were wrong on that one, Cara. This is amazing. It really shows why you were Marcin's favorite beauty girl to shoot. I love how not only is an eye covered, but your entire face is and that one eye is just delivering so much intensity to make up for it.
Elle: That one strand of hair coming across the face is almost pointing directly to the eye. And girl is that eye amazing. It's so strong, fiery, and powerful. Anna, this is your best shot to date and one of my favorites in this competition. Great job this week, Anna.

Sui. Tanya. You are our top two this week! But only one of you can be on top of the pyramid. The girl who just missed out on the cover if iD is...





































































Tanya!
Karlie: This is the reason that I fought so hard for you last week. You have enough passion to take a risk like this and it totally paid off. It's quirky, odd, and out there, but it works so well for the client.
Cara: I was wrong about you, Tanya. You really made me eat my words and you know what? I'm happy you did because I want the best for all of you girls and I am so harsh because I want you to get better. This is brilliant, Tanya.
Elle: I'm so proud of you Tanya. You came from almost getting the axe to coming so close to the cover of a huge magazine. You're showing improvement, and that's all we can really ask for. Amazing job, Tanya.

Cara: It's just so perfect. The look over the shoulder, the slightly raised shoulder, the long neck, the bone structure, the calmness of the wink. It's just absolutely amazing.
Elle: I'm glad someone actually did the wink this week instead of just covering up their other eye. And you did it really well. Normally when someone winks, their face gets lopsided, but you didn't. It's amazing.
Karlie: It's perfect... I have nothing else to say.
Elle: Well Sui, you made it to the top of the pyramid, but your work isn't done yet this week. You must now choose two girls between Lynn, Ming, Sophie, Martha, and Nicole to send into elimination where the three judges will choose one girl to go home. I'll give you some time to make a decision.

Elle: Sui, you also did an amazing job this week and are safe, but you still have a job to do. You need to nominate two of the remaining girls for elimination. I'm sure you've thought long and hard about this, so come on up here and deliver the news.

Lynn. I agree that you had the weakest photo this week. It's so disappointing that you had such amazing styling and just didn't push through and do much with it at all.

Elle: Lynn, Martha, unfortunately, Sui has chosen you two to be nominated for elimination. Cara, Karlie, and I will need a moment to discuss who will be saved and who will be heading back home, so if you could exit, we can begin deliberation.

DELIBERATION

Elle: Okay ladies. We have two girls here. One is safe, one is going home. What are your thoughts.

Karlie: I'm honestly very torn on this decision. The past two eliminations I've been very for one girl staying and the other going, but I feel like this time it's tougher.

Cara: Personally, I feel like Lynn has the potential to be a superstar, but Martha may be a little more ready.

Karlie: That's what I was thinking. Lynn is absolutely stunning and has all that it takes to be a model, but I'm not 100% sold on her capabilities. She just hasn't really shown much.

Elle: But I don't think Martha has shown much either.

Karlie: Her beauty shot last week was stunning and her swimsuit shot put her in Vogue! How can you say that she hasn't shown much.

Elle: Well don't you remember Lynn's swimsuit shot. It was the best of the week, just not fitting for the client.

Cara: I'll give it to Lynn for giving that one strong shot, but I feel like Martha is more reliable overall. But then again, you can teach a girl to model, you can't teach a girl potential. If Lynn can get it in the next few weeks, she could be unstoppable.

Elle: Well, I still vote to keep Lynn and send Martha home.

Cara: I think it's best to keep Martha because I think she is more likely to be a contender because we know she can produce some great photos whereas we would be guessing with Lynn.

Elle: Well I guess it's up to you this week, Karlie...

Elle: Ladies, this was easily the toughest decision that we have had to make so far in this competition. Lynn, you are just absolutely stunning. You have everything it takes to be a force in this industry with your youth, body, and gorgeous face, but we aren't convinced by your photos yet. Martha, it's undeniable that Lynn out competes you in potential, but we believe that you out compete her in talent. Do we go with all the potential in the world, or do we go for the girl we know can turn out a great photo?

Elle: Hello ladies and welcome to your next photoshoot. I'm here with Robbie Myers. Robbie Myers is the Editor in Chief of Elle Magazine and she is here to deliver your next photoshoot challenge.

Robbie: Hi ladies. I'm really excited to have you here. This week we are shooting for Elle in order to introduce the next big thing to the industry. The girl who has the best photo this week will have the photo we shoot today on a page inside of the September issue of Elle. For the shoot we want to see effortless cool out of you ladies. I think that was the most terrifying experience ever. I seriously thought for a second I would go home. The judges questioned my potential and I need to show them otherwise. I was the first girl up for the shoot and I worked my ass off on that set, I think I did well. As for the interview, well I just plan on being myself really.

1. Why did you try out for Take it to the Top?

Back in North Carolina I won a model search but I wanted to finish school first, after graduating I moved to NY to pursue a career in fashion as an editor but I began doing modeling jobs on the side to help pay the bills and before I knew it I was almost exclusively focusing on modeling. Soon after I saw an open audition and well, here I am!

2. What makes you stand out from the rest of the girls?
Aside from my DNA? Being Southern. The fashion industry could use a little more Southern hospitality. *giggles*


3. Why do you deserve to win the competition?
I don't think someone inherently deserve to win anything. Right now I know I want to win this, I want this to be my career, but I don't think I've done enough to deserve it. In the end if I get to the finale and I am proud of my journey and performance in the competition, then I think I can answer this question a lot easier.


4. What are you looking forward to the most in the competition?
The photoshoots! Aside from modeling and fashion, acting was sort of a guilty pleasure of mine. So when I get to a photoshoot it's a chance to portray a different character each time and it is so much fun.


5. What is your personal style?

My personal style is kinda boho. I love being comfy and wearing loose clothes, but I change it around a lot. Depending on my mood, but I still add unique touches that make it my own.


6. Who are some fashion icons that inspire you to continue on in this industry?
I am really inspired by the supermodel era of the 90's. I would completely fangirl over Cindy Crawford, Naomi, Claudia Schiffer. Though I think Kate Moss has probably been my biggest inspiration.


7. If you could walk for any designer in the world, who would it be and why?
All of them! MiuMiu, Versace, Prada, there are so many amazing designers out there I really couldn't pick just one.

8. What would you say is the best quality about yourself that would help you in the fashion industry?
A sense of style and character I think is so important in this industry. The best models exude confidence. I go into situations having confidence and I think that's something that is important to have in an industry that can pick out your flaws so easily.


9. What would it mean for you to win Take it to the Top?
In the end I know for a fact that I want to work in the fashion industry, and if I have the chance to be a top model then that's what I want to do. Winning this competition would be the start to my career.

1. Why did you try out for Take it to the Top?
Modeling has been something has always wanted to do but I believe that I had the idea that you have to be the stereotypical pretty the ideal pretty to model.as a child I was always a bit gangly and thin so I often had to create my own clothing. As I got older I grew into my features a bit and realized that I was actually photogenic. A few friends sent my casting photo in and here I am today. This competition is giving an extremely diverse group of girls a kick start into the fashion community. During the casting process I looked around and thought my chances were slim but that is was also a opportunity that I had to take I had nothing to lose and everything to gain.

2. What makes you stand out from the rest of the girls?
I believe that each girl here has some it factor about them or otherwise they would not be here beside me and competing. Something was seen in each of us. Being a model I will be honest and way that much of a first impression is based on appearance. I won’t get every job I go out for sometimes based on the way I look because I might be ill suited to the client. But I will do my darn dent to prove that I can do it I think to win this than I have to be well rounded and that I cannot pigeon hole myself into a category out of fear and doubt that someone else may. I believe that I am maybe overly candid and unusual and that I have the looks to fit my big personality. Have elfish or as some would say “alien” and that plus the personally I believe makes me memorable.

3. Why do you deserve to win the competition?
I have pushed through adversity of nearly being eliminated but I have also delivered strong work and I know I still have much to prove I do believe that if I can keep raising my own bar that I can possibly win.


4. What are you looking forward to the most in the competition?
I take it day by day as it’s not predictable I don’t know what challenges I will face I look forward to trying out several genres of modeling and seeing that I can produce. I would like to win but I still have a journey before me.

5. What is your personal style?
I believe that style is something that a person can change each and every day but I like to look effortless but still wear unusual quirky pieces.I like to play with trends as well

6. Who are some fashion icons that inspire you to continue on in this industry?
I have always loved Coco Channel she once said that “in order to be irreplaceable, one must always be different” these are words that I live by I also love Chanel because she was timeless but also took risks.



7. If you could walk for any designer in the world, who would it be and why?
Designers are like lays potato chips you can’t pick just one. But one of my favorite designers has to be McQueen. His work if powerful but also defecate. And although he is no longer with us I believe that legendary vision lives on. McQueen does not put of shows he puts on productions. I also love that the brand is high fashion but that there is also ready to wear at some department stores. It would be such a opportunity and I believe my look also fits the brand.

8. What would you say is the best quality about yourself that would help you in the fashion industry?
I would say that I always push and persevere past obstacles. I am extremely determined once I set goals for myself. I would also say that I am punctual and I listen to the brief given.

9. What would it mean for you to win Take it to the Top?
The world, I know it’s a cliché answer but this is something that I have wanted for a very long time and I know that the title and the experience would do amazing things for me and its an experience that is just as worthwhile. I am blessed to be part of this.

10. Fun fact!
I used to think I had Telekinesis as a child and that I could move objects with my mind but that I realized I could not however I can do a mean chipmunk impression.

1. Why did you try out for Take it to the Top?
Because I know I was meant to model, and it would be such a waste for me not to. I've got the body, I've got the face, I've got the age, and I've got the drive, so it is time for me to put myself out there.

2. What makes you stand out from the rest of the girls?
Well, the most obvious factor would be my ethnicity. As a native Brazilian, I am the only brown one in a group of pale models, so that makes me stand out, and it also gives me a racial ambiguity that makes me more marketable. I also think I have one the best faces here with my strong bone structure, almond-shaped hazel eyes, pouty lips, and smooth skin.

3. Why do you deserve to win the competition?
I think I deserve to win because I have everything a supermodel needs and then some. The only other girls who have nearly as much physical potential as me are older, so I have a greater chance of getting my foot in the door and staying there longer.

4. What are you looking forward to the most in the competition?
Umm, everything? *giggles* I guess the journey is what I look forward to most. I came into this competition with less experience than most of the other girls, so each week is a new chance for me to learn and grow, so I look forward to becoming the best I can be.

5. What is your personal style?
Well, being from Brazil, my personal style is pretty light and colorful. Almost any color compliments my skintone so I love to wear colorful outfits, although I make sure not to go over the top and to keep it stylish and chic.

6. Who are some fashion icons that inspire you to continue on in this industry?
Well, there are so many big Brazilian names and I basically look up to them all from Gisele to Adriana to Isabeli to Emanuela. I also look up to Magdalena Frackowiak because she and I have similar bone structure and I would love to follow a career path similar to hers, and of course I look up to many of the greats like our host, Elle.

7. If you could walk for any designer in the world, who would it be and why?
Do I have to pick just one? I want to walk for them all from Givenchy to Chanel to Victoria's Secret to Gucci, but if I had to pick just one I would actually have to say Peter Pilotto. His designs are always so marvelous and he is called the master of print for a reason, so I would love to walk in his shows (especially if I could take home the outfits!).

8. What would you say is the best quality about yourself that would help you in the fashion industry?
I think I have a lot of great qualities, but if I had to choose just one on the spot, it would probably be my youth. Nineteen is a prime age to enter the fashion industry, so I won't have to worry about age holding me back and will have time to build a long-lasting career.

9. What would it mean for you to win Take it to the Top?
Winning Take it to the Top would mean that I had finally made it. This competition is such a wonderful platform into the fashion industry, so I would make the most of the opportunity to launch myself onto the path towards becoming a supermodel.

10. Fun fact!
I love to eat lettuce. Sometimes I just pick up a fresh head of lettuce and take bites out of it like an apple. Completely plain and raw, no dressing or anything. Is that weird?

1. Why did you try out for Take it to the Top?
It's a funny story, actually! When I was a teenager I really wanted a computer but my parents wouldn't buy me one, so I entered a local modeling competition in China to win one...in the end I walked away with that computer, but the real reward I gained was a new passion for the modeling industry!

2. What makes you stand out from the rest of the girls?
I think my overall potential is what makes me stand out from the rest of the girls. There is tons of potential in the cast of course, but I think everyone has something just a little off whether it's in their height or weight or look. I, however, have the perfect height and proportions for modeling, and my look is one that easily shifts from high fashion to commercial and everything in between.

3. Why do you deserve to win the competition?
I think I deserve to win because I have so much drive and determination. I always give 110% and will work as hard as it takes to get the job done; in fact, this was my second time auditioning for the competition so that shows that I do not give up.

4. What are you looking forward to the most in the competition?
Traveling! I really hope I make it to the international destination because I love to travel. I was actually originally studying tourism before pursuing modeling because it has always been a dream of mine to see the world.

5. What is your personal style?
My personal style is very eclectic and goes with my mood. Sometimes I go for quirky chic, sometimes grunge chic, sometimes elegant chic, but overall I try to keep it chic.

6. Who are some fashion icons that inspire you to continue on in this industry?
Oh wow, there are too many to list, but I'll try to name a few! Liya Kebede is a huge icon for me because I feel she broke many barriers for women of color in high fashion, especially since she was the first women of color to be the face of Estee Lauder. Likewise, Du Juan is an icon for me because she paved the way for Asian models.

7. If you could walk for any designer in the world, who would it be and why?
Wow, that's another tough question! I love so many designers, but if I had to choose just one right now, I would probably have to say Calvin Klein. Calvin Klein is just such an iconic brand and their favorite models always make it to the top, so that would be such a huge deal for me.

8. What would you say is the best quality about yourself that would help you in the fashion industry?
I think my work ethic combined with my positive disposition would be my best quality. This is a very tough industry in which you need thick skin, so I think those qualities will help me keep going when the going gets tough.

9. What would it mean for you to win Take it to the Top?
It would mean the world to me to win Take it to the Top. This is such a unique and wonderful opportunity to make myself a household name, which is a very difficult thing to do nowadays in fashion. I also think being a prominent Asian face would be meaningful; the fashion industry is currently quite receptive of Asian models, but none of us are really household names yet so that would be a big deal.

10. Fun fact!
Well, this is a bit embarrassing, but something unique about me is that I never go anywhere without a snuggie. They are just so darn comfortable, I just love curling up under a snuggie but still having my hands free to do whatever. Whoever invented them is a genius!

1. Why did you try out for Take it to the Top?
Because it is time for me to pursue what I really want in life! I have always been very academically-inclined so my family wanted and hoped for me to be a scholar. But what I really want is to pursue a career in fashion, especially while I still have the chance because I can always go back to academia later in life.

2. What makes you stand out from the rest of the girls?
I think my spunk makes me stand out. Overall this is kinda a quiet group of girls, but in the fashion industry you really can't be afraid to put yourself out there. I always have plenty of enthusiasm and charisma, which helps me put myself out there.

3. Why do you deserve to win the competition?
I think I deserve to win because I honestly believe I am the most versatile girl in this competition. I can go from sexy to commercial to edgy to elegant in the blink of an eye and pull off each look seamlessly, which is something that few other girls can do I feel.

4. What are you looking forward to the most in the competition?
Winning! *chuckles* Just kidding...except I hope not. But anyway, I look forward to working with all of these amazing clients. The producers have really stepped up their game this cycle and brought in some huge names, so I can't wait to see who and what is next.

5. What is your personal style?
My personal style is simple and chic, but also fun. I like to make sure I look stylish and chic, but I also want some personality to bleed through so I try to throw in a little flair with some interesting colors, textures, or accessories.

6. Who are some fashion icons that inspire you to continue on in this industry?
Oh, there are so many! One of my icons is Adriana Lima. I have been told I look like her a bit and I have actually met her before, and having a career at her level is extraordinary because she's a household name. I also look up to all of the models who are true chameleons and can transform into anything you want them to like Gisele and Naomi.

7. If you could walk for any designer in the world, who would it be and why?
Well, it's a little cliche, but I have to say Victoria's Secret! The VS Fashion Show is the highlight of the year for me, it seems so fun and extravagant, and it's such a big event that it really gets your face out there. I also think I fit their aesthetic very well, so I think it's a goal I could achieve!

8. What would you say is the best quality about yourself that would help you in the fashion industry?
My energy! I am always high energy with an upbeat attitude, which helps with everything from meeting clients to dealing with rejection to performing on set.

9. What would it mean for you to win Take it to the Top?
It would mean so much for me to win Take it to the Top, where do I even begin?! First of all, there are no real big Portuguese fashion icons yet, so I would love to be the first. Second, I would love to disprove the stereotype that models are just dumb, dull coat-hangers. And finally, I would love to bring the Supermodel status back and become a household name because it is about time true fashion models began reclaiming covers and campaigns!

10. Fun fact!
I am a professionally trained boxer. Boxing is my #1 workout routine and how I stay in model shape, but it's also a great defensive training, cathartic outlet, and a whole lot of fun!

Why did you try out for Take it to the Top?
I'm here because of one reason. I'd like to follow the footsteps of my mom. She is a model on her generation and i would like to make her proud because we're born to be a models! Maybe this competition will help me a lot.

2. What makes you stand out from the rest of the girls?
My confident. Eventhough i failed sometimes. I didnt give up. I dont want to be the underdog of this competition. That's why i always try my best to do something new and make the judges impressed.

3. Why do you deserve to win the competition?
I have what it takes to become the next supermodel on this generation. My eagerness of winning in this competition really motivates me to show my best.

4. What are you looking forward to the most in the competition?
I am looking forward to meet some interesting people in fashion industry. Work with some great photographers. And the challenges that may surprise all of us!

5. What is your personal style?
Simple but very effective. Simplicity makes you simply the best!


6. Who are some fashion icons that inspire you to continue on in this industry?
Shalom Harlow, Linda Evangelista and Tyra Banks are my personal favorite supermodel. My mom also a fan of them. They are just beautiful on their own way.

7. If you could walk for any designer in the world, who would it be and why?
Alexander McQueen. He's a legend. I would love to wear his crazy outfits. His design is just a dream! I cant believe a normal people can actually did that amazing design. I am looking forward to work with his design.

8. What would you say is the best quality about yourself that would help you in the fashion industry?
Something aggressive. Something Fierce. Something Strong... VERSATILITY.

9. What would it mean for you to win Take it to the Top?
Its really means a lot. Everything will change if i win this competition. Making my mom proud of what will i achieve is the best feeling that i could ever had.

Why did you try out for Take it to the Top?
I'm here because modeling is my dream. Since i was young, i pose like an idiot and trying to copy the pose of the models on the fashion magazine. At the end, I fell in love in fashion. this competition will be the key to achieve my goal to be a supermodel.


2. What makes you stand out from the rest of the girls?
My versatility as a model. Eventhough I'm not that "experience model" I always pushed through to keep my performance the best.

3. Why do you deserve to win the competition?
I have my faith on this competition. I know i can win this thing.

4. What are you looking forward to the most in the competition?
To improve my modeling skills. I am looking forward to show my improvement.

5. What is your personal style?
I love bright colors. I always wore a clothes with some colorful. Think of Katy Perry!

6. Who are some fashion icons that inspire you to continue on in this industry?
Tyra Banks! Damn, She really inspires me on her show ANTM! I always listen to her advice and study of what she's teaching on her models. She has the intelligence to know the stuffs of being a high fashion model.


7. If you could walk for any designer in the world, who would it be and why?
Gucci, D&G, Armani. They are one of my favorite designs. Their design is simply amazing. I am looking forward to wear them. Its shines like a diamonds.

8. What would you say is the best quality about yourself that would help you in the fashion industry?
My best quality is my look. I can be everything. Try me then i'll show you.

It seems like finally i made myself the best.

I'm a ballet dancer, I'm also a hip-hop dancer. Yes, I can dance but i cant sing.
