JUDGING
Liya: Hello lovely ladies, and welcome to your fourth judging! This week we kicked it up a notch with an editorial photoshoot for Interview Magazine in which you had to pose with different bugs and match their depictions. Let's see how you all did, starting with Abbey Lee per usual.
Abbey Lee - For the most part your performances have been getting significantly better each week, and this week is no exception; this is by far your best shot to date. This photo is so mystical, enchanting, and elegant, and you look divine. Your body looks fantastic in the jewel-encrusted jumpsuit and your legs look amazing, and overall your pose is just wonderful. Your face also looks fantastic here and there is a really dreaminess to your expression that I find captivating. I will say that my first instincts for this shot would have been fireflies, beetles, or even scorpions, but I suppose it does still work for moths.
Arlenis - I wasn’t too keen on your film this week; your frames weren’t bad, but none particularly grabbed me nor did they quite fit what I was looking for...I saw more scorpion or ant in your film. Anyway, I do think that this photo fits your theme, it is dark and creepy like a cockroach should be. This is a very edgy look for you that you pull off pretty well and you look quite sinister with both your pose and expression which I like, but your pose is so stiff and you just seem like you really need to breathe. Not a bad job though.
Bar - This is an interesting photo, very graceful and beautiful, though it’s not quite what I had expected for a Praying Mantis...I had expected something a little more solemn and elegant, though this isn’t far off. Anyway, I like the curve of your body and the extension of your arms, and facially here you look so beautiful. Your eyes are especially beautiful actually and they have a clear sense of longing in them. As for the downsides, I don’t like the open mouth and I think this is a little sexier than I would have liked, but overall you did well.
Catherine - I was a bit surprised when you chose fireflies because you didn’t strike me as the ethereal type, and overall I think your risk did not quite pay off. I do think it’s a highly enchanting and magical photo, but that’s mostly because you got the best effects and styling. I do really like your pose; you look vulnerable yet protective, as if these fireflies are your babies. You also look very beautiful. Your eyes are so blank though, there is no life shining through them whatsoever and since fireflies are such lively creatures, you really should have brought something more to your expression because it just makes you seem cold and distant.
Cintia - Very mystical and beautiful, Cintia, I like it. Your pose is quite simple but works very well to flatter your body and display the outfit, and your legs are looking especially great. Your expression and the way you turned your head is also quite dreamy and beautiful, though your eyes are a bit droopy and lack a connection so work on that more because this is not the first time I have told you that. Well done overall though.
Emilia - This is very regal yet haunting Emilia, which is what makes it work. Your face looks absolutely gorgeous and your skin does too, and I like the way you work with the fur. I would have liked to see more expression in your face though; more emotion or power and energy would have really brought this photo to life because you look a little dull for being trapped in the midst of a swarm of locusts.
Eugena - You know, I kinda threw in caterpillars as a filler option that I didn’t expect anyone to choose because I didn’t have a clear vision for it myself, but you made it work. The braid in your hair is what really makes it work for the theme, so I’m glad that you made that the focal point of the photo. Facially you look so beautiful here and your skin looks fantastic as well, and there’s a sensuality to it I like. I do wish you had done something a little different with your mouth and eyes, and there is a slight stiffness to this photo that I’m not fond of, but overall I like it.
Jac - How fitting the the prickly girl with the stingy attitude chose bees. *glares at Jac* Anyway, I think you did well like usual, I definitely see a fierce queen bee here. Your body language is good and your eyes are quite savage and piercing, though I see a small amount of doubt in your expression and it seems like you are trying a little too hard to be fierce. Overall a strong photo though.
Jessica - Your film was a horror to go through, Jessica, but that's because I am terrified of spiders *chuckles*. I think this shot is superb though, very dark and edgy. I love how your mouth is bound and how you leaned back into the web, you look like a trapped and defeated prey. This angle is very good for your bone structure and I like how you arched your back, and overall I think you did very well, I can’t think of much to complain about really.
Josephine - This photo is very...unsettling, though that’s what I would expect from a termite infestation. You look very weak, desperate, and disgusted, as if the termites have been eating away at you, and your face is so haunting in this photo. I do think that this could be more flattering though, and I think you could have done more with the pose, but overall you had one of the more difficult themes and I think you took it well.
Kirsi - Well, this was unexpected! Little miss shy and innocent has a sting to her, and she stings well! This is fabulous Kirsi, so elegant and expensive but also fierce and edgy. Your bone structure is to die for and your eyes are just so piercing, and overall you look simultaneously hypnotic and intimidating, just like a scorpion should.
Lily - Very beautiful Lily, quite majestic and serene. You brought the softness and dreaminess I had hoped for the butterfly photo, and you look quite beautiful while doing so. I do think that your pose is a little weird though; it’s on the brink of greatness, but it falls just short. The way you are pulling down the top and pulling up the bottom cheapens this a little, and sensuality comes all too naturally to you so you have to watch out for that. Overall good job though.
