JUDGING
Liya: Hello lovely ladies! This week we rang in the New Year by representing your interpretations of the future in a photo, either by going all flashy and technological, or by predicting future fashion trends, but either way I want to see impressive, futuristic editorial photos because the best 5 will be appearing in Z!nk magazine. So let's get started, now with Anais.
Anais: My one critique would be to loosen up and breathe, but otherwise this is a wonderful photo, a big step up from last week. This is very edgy and powerful, I love the intense expression and you have a very strong stance and stride. And those legs! They just go on for miles, the best I have seen them look.
Ashley: This is a rare case in which there were photos that fit the theme better in your film, but I'm actually just choosing the best one even though it doesn't fit as well. I love this photo of you, your expression is so strong and you have a great connection with something in the distance, and when you combine it with your pose, there is a very animalistic vibe about this that I love. Your pose is very strong with just the right amount of tension and you are selling the outfit very well, though you did lose a little bit of length. I do get semi-futuristic vibes from this, similar to the dystopian senses from some of the other photos, like as if you are a bounty hunter or spy hunting down the rebels, but I still don't completely see the theme.
Bianca: This is the first time I am not blown away by you. You did have a better photo in your film but it just didn't really fit the theme, and this is still a great photo, I have just come to expect perfection or near to it from you. My biggest critique for this photo would just be the angle, you have no neck here and the angle on your face is a little weird. I do get a barren, apocalyptic future vibe from this though, and your pose does a great job of selling the outfit and jewelry, as well as making your body look fantastic. I also like the power of your expression, though I wish you turned your head up more so we could see more of your face and eyes. It's still a great photo, just not quite up to your usual standard.
Candice: Umm, Candice, is this you? You look so sweet in front of me, but here you look like an evil, dominating dictator. I am afraid to look you in the eyes here because they are so piercing that I think laser beams are going to shoot out. I also love your stride, you have a very powerful walk and you make the dress look incredible, I want to buy it right now. Impeccable job!
Carola: I was not too impressed by your film, you had a better photo that just didn't fit the theme, and you had some photos that fit the theme better but weren't as good. I do like how you chose to combine both interpretations of the theme by choosing a trendsetting look and looking futuristic. I also like the androgyny and the quirkiness of the pose. Your face also looks great, but I wish there was more to your expression, I'm not a big fan of the sleep eyes and mouth agape. Overall good job, but room for improvement.
Daria: You had a lot to choose from this week, you have really been improving since that bottom 2 scare and I'm glad. I'm very impressed by your ability to make a swimsuit high fashion and futuristic. I love the pose and the way you are twisting your body, your legs look fantastic and I like the arm positioning. Your face also looks good. Great job!
Gertrud: Though the setting works against the theme a little, the flashiness and trendsetting aspects still make this futuristic enough to work. Anyway, I love this photo, you look so stunning, your cheekbones look amazing and I love the intensity of your expression, and the whipping hair is also a nice touch. I like the pose as well, your stride is strong yet robotic in a way that works, my only critique is that I wish I could see your other arm but otherwise amazing job.
Karlie: You had a lot to choose from this week, and though you definitely had a strong film, there wasn't anything that really knocked my socks off. This is great though, I definitely get a futuristic vibe from this photo. You have a lovely profile and I love the intensity and concentration in your gaze, and your pose is pretty good too though you almost look a little short here which is weird since you are the tallest girl here.
Nadine: You blew me away this week, and I mean really blew me away, your film was just incredible with all the risks you took. This is so
Brave New World or
1984, and I mean the book, not the year obviously. You look like a fashionable martyr making a statement in a dark, dismal dystopian society of robotic clones. I love the pose, the way you worked the dress and held the flag, and though I can't see your face that well I still see a lot of emotion powering through. Your best shot to date for sure.
Sui: I really don't have much to say about you this week. Your film was good though nothing really stood out or had much impact, and same goes for this photo. It's a bit more dark and gothic than futuristic, though I still see the theme, and you did a good job though there's just not much life for this. Good job, but not great.
