Judging
Liya: Hello ladies, and welcome to your third judging here are The Couture Kingdom. This week you ladies had a magnificent runway show, and then on top of that you also had a backstage photoshoot in which I wanted to see casual, candid photos. Both will be equally taken into account for judging, as well as your averages, so there is a lot going into your scores this week. Now, let's get to the critiques!
AliceRunway - You nailed it, and I had no doubt that you would. You look so beautiful and regal, and you are working that dress perfectly, you look like a queen. My only critique is that you looked a little sad.
Photo - Had you looked away instead of to the camera then this would be flawless. You look very beautiful and high-class, and I’m impressed with your ability to sell accessories in a candid. I also like the attitude you’re serving up, it’s like you’re saying “I’m a star and I know it.”
IsabeliRunway - You served up some serious attitude and androgyny on that runway and I absolutely loved it. You looked confident, cool, and edgy, and you had the perfect stride. A little more poise would’ve made it perfect, but you still might have had the best walk.
Photo - This is beautiful, you look so pensive and regal. The hand to your neck was a nice touch and I love how you look so lost in thought, had your eyes been more even then this would have been perfect.
JoanRunway - You stole the show. The outfit looked great, you had a perfect stride, you exuded confidence, your face looked gorgeous, and you had just the right amount of presence in your expression. I can’t think of much to critique really.
Photo - I really want to know what you are looking at in this photo, you look so captivated and mesmerized by something in the distance. Your skin and bone structure look great and those eyes just make this photo, and you really stand out from both the other girls in the shot and the other girls’ photos this week. I do think you look a bit mature though.
KatrinRunway - I had you pegged as a runway girl when you entered the competition, but now I am not quite as sure. Your walk wasn’t bad by any means, but it was far too stiff and rigid. Next time relax those shoulders, move those arms, and calm your face down more...though your lower half was flawless at least.
Photo - I really like that you smiled, it makes this stand out more and I wasn’t sure how well you could emote. However, it’s a little too candid; you look older and not as beautiful, and you failed to find the light.
KelseyRunway - You have a very passable walk. You’ve got a good stride and overall body motions, and you sell the dress. You also look pretty, but I wish there was more presence in your face because that’s one of the things that holds this back from really popping.
Photo - Like your runway walk, this photo doesn’t quite pop, but it is very beautiful. Your face just looks so gorgeous and this proves that you didn’t need anything special to look amazing, and I’m impressed that you can “smize” in a candid.
LilyRunway - You’ve got one of the best strides of all the girls, your body language just exudes confidence, poise, and strength; everything about your overall motion just works and completely suits the outfit. Your face also looks quite pretty, I just wish there was more life in it.
Photo - You remind me of a statue, you’re so long and lean it’s ridiculous. You’re so regal and poised, and I really want to get that dress even though this is a candid. I also like how your face makes this more in-the-moment, but I wish you had done something a little more flattering with your expression and had less hair hiding your features.
MackenzieRunway - I thought you would be the runway type, and this proves me right. You look beautiful, your body looks great, you have a nice stride, and you display the clothes perfectly. The only things I dislike are the slight tilt and the fact that you look kinda bitchy, but overall great job.
Photo - This is a great angle for your face and you look beautiful, and I like how you are still selling the jewelry and makeup in a candid. I do wish it looked a little more in-the-moment and it could stand out more, but it’s a solid shot.
MagdalenaRunway - You had a lot of sass in your walk, which I liked. You had a powerful stride and a confident expression, and you worked the dress and bag. I just wish you had a little more structure; your arm was a little too far from your body and your legs were a little too criss-crossed.
Photo - You way over-posed in your film, this was the only shot was really casual and candid. It’s a good shot though, you look beautiful and you’re working the bag, it just doesn’t stand out much.
OlgaRunway - You had a lovely walk, very graceful and poised yet still casual and cool, and you looked very beautiful. Your eyes trailed off a bit and became kinda glazed over though, so work on that, but overall your walk is in great shape.
Photo - Again, the eyes are the big--but only--problem here, I wish you had either fully closed them or opened them a little more. However, otherwise this is quite lovely, very candid yet beautiful, I could easily see this in a backstage makeup featurette in a magazine.
OllieRunway - You have a good runway walk with a good stride and good expression and good overall look, but nothing was quite great.
Photo - This. Is. Gorgeous. You have the most beautiful eyes, I just find myself getting lost in them...but then I look beyond your eyes, and all your other features are just perfect here too, especially your skin. There’s such a youthfulness and innocence that I love, and you manage to look ethereal without any special effects or styling. And even though it’s not the most “in-the-moment” exactly, it’s not really posed either and you’re not acknowledging the camera so it still works fine.
RiquelleRunway - For the youngest girl here, you actually looked quite mature on that runway and I’m not sure it’s in a good way. I didn’t exactly see model out there, though that’s my own big critique because you got all the technical points right.
Photo - I wish you hadn’t intentionally looked to camera because that makes this lose a lot of its candid appeal. However, that’s the only big flaw because otherwise you look so stunning, your facial features look like they were sculpted by a Renaissance artist and this is still might be your best shot so far.
SashaRunway - You looked very ragged and worn out, I saw much more of a peasant than royalty in your walk. Your stride and walk itself was pretty strong though, and you did work the outfit.
Photo - Ahh, this is so much fresher and beautiful, one of the best backstages this week I’d say. Your hair and skin look great and I love your eyes, you look very serene yet captivated by something in the distance. Great job!
TamaraRunway - Your walk would have been perfect for a zombie-themed runway show, but the stiff yet dead face brought down your walk a bit. You still looked pretty and had a great stride though at least.
Photo - Wow, you look so different in full profile, I barely even recognize you! I do think you look a lot better straight-on, but you still look good and I like how you look very stoic yet engaged with what the stylist is doing, you definitely got the moment-in-time aspect down.
