JUDGING
Gisele: Welcome to yet another judging. This week we'll be cutting from 13 to 12 in the hopes of finding the next global superstar. You all posed for the cover of Seventeen so let's see how you did.
Caroline: I'm not going to lie. I was disappointed in you this week. I thought you'd have an amazing photo and film, but I thought your film was sub par. This shot is nice and I really love the energy you brought to it, but it's a little too sexy for Seventeen. The target demographic for Seventeen is a teenager and this is too sexy for that.
Magdalena: (Left): I wasn't impressed with you either. This shot looks like something out of a JCPenney catalog. The lack of eye contact doesn't work for a cover and the energy is lacking. You look cute, but also a little mature. You really needed youth for a shoot like that and you lost it in this shot.
Abbey: You have so much talent, Abbey and I know that I'll never see a bad shot from you. The challenge for you is to fit the client. While this shot is beautiful, it doesn't have that cute, lively look that Seventeen goes for. It's a little moody and while you do look young and fresh, it's too intense for Seventeen.
Sigrid: I can tell that commercial is a struggle for you, like many of the other girls, but I love that you actually smiled. The whole shot is way too risque for Seventeen, but if it was cropped just to your face, I could see it working. It looks endearing and I think you look very nice. Overall, it doesn't work, but the face does.
Meghan: Finally someone got it! This is great, Meghan. Honestly, I thought that you'd be a train wreck this week, but you were one of the best. The smile is so cute and you look better than the other girls on the cover. I was dreading your shot this week and I am really pleasantly surprised.
Montana: This is wonderful, Montana. It's so adorable and genuine. It immediately brought me back to Whitney Houston's cover for Seventeen with Diane Leich. It's like a modern interpretation of that. You sell the outfit and just look amazing, Montana.
Maryna: Adorable. This is so cute, Maryna. I wasn't sure how you'd do here, but you did really well. It's just so dang cute. It doesn't look posed, it looks very natural and that's what I really like about the shot. You look great, though your film could have been a little stronger.
Hailey: Of all the girls, I thought you'd kill it, but I was left being disappointed. You have the look for Seventeen. You're the youngest girl here and you have one of the most commercial looks. It's much to strong for Seventeen. Had you just put a smile on your face, you could have killed it.
Daniela: You look so cute! You kind of look like Nina Dobrev here. The smile looks so natural and you look so young and fresh. I absolutely love how you're playing with the clothes. You really had an advantage here by being more commercial looking, and you really used that advantage.
Anabela: this is actually really cute, Anabela. I love the clothes on you and the styling really did a lot for this shot. I think your face looks nice, but I really wish you'd have smiled more. The smirk is cute, but having it only on half of your face makes you look lopsided. Overall, it's goo though.
Anna: I don't know if this would work for a cover, but it would definitely work for the client in general. You're smile looks slightly forced, but the rest of the shot looks great. It's commercial, young, and hip and that's all the Seventeen is. It's not the most amazing shot, but it definitely works.
Cintia: Fantastic, Cintia! It's so girly, cute, young, fresh, fun, and full of energy. It all just looks amazing and I really have nothing else to say other than amazing job.
Toni: I wasn't blown away by your film, but you fit the brief well here. You look so much better than Joan here and I love that you brought energy to the shot because in the past, you've just stood there and looked dead. There's actual life here and you did what I told you this week.
