JUDGING
Liya: Hello lovely ladies, and welcome to your ninth judging! This week you ladies had a very editorial photoshoot for V Magazine in which you posed in the middle of the Nevada desert, and you could either be very strong and fierce or very weak and desperate, but either way we expected them to be impressive. You also had a challenge this week in which you had to explain who you believe to be the strongest and weakness competitors, and that will be factored into your results this week as well by adding a point for each strongest vote and subtracting a point for each weakest. Now, let's get down to business, starting with Abbey Lee like usual.
Abbey Lee (I didn't bother editing because it's similar enough to a desert) - This shot is quite frankly shocking, Abbey Lee, I never expected you to go so sexual. I do think it is a little too sexy for this week, but I couldn't resist the shot because sexiness has been your only weakest so far and this week you toppled that. Anyway, I think it's a fantastic shot that still works for the theme. The arch in your back is great and you are bringing so much sensuality and sultriness, though it could also be read as desperation and despair so it works for the shot. You have a great profile and jawline, and my only critique aside from the overt sexiness is that I wish you had brought your front arm down because it's a little awkward. As for the challenge, you got 2 votes for the strongest with the voters saying that you have a unique yet versatile look and a very strong history, while you got 0 votes for weakest.
Bar - This is good Bar, but not quite great. I do think you got what I was going for, but you didn't go as far with it as you could have. You do look quite forlorn, exhausted, and upset, and your slouched body position gives off that weakened vibe I wanted while your legs look quite nice. You do look a little short though, and I think you could have exaggerated your positioning and emotion a little more to make this shot really pop. Now, onto the challenge...you got 0 votes for the strongest and 2.5 votes for the weakest, with the reasoning being that you don't compensate for your hindered potential, you have yet to really shine in a shoot even when the theme caters to your look, and you don't take risks, and one girl said that she easily see you as a celebrity model but not a fashion model.
Catherine - You gave me a lot to choose from once again Catherine, so I chose this because it was the riskiest and most unique. I think you really captured the strength I wanted this week, especially in your face which is so fierce and animalistic while still beautiful. Your eyes are so piercing and the way you got down onto the sand adds to the animalistic quality of the shot, though a little more tension and/or creativity in the pose would have made this perfect. For the challenge, you got 2 votes for strongest competition with the voters saying you are a silent threat with loads of potential, consistency, and versatility. You got 0 votes for weakest, so well done.
Jac (Also didn't bother editing because it's similar enough to a desert) - You had so much to choose from this week, so like Catherine, I chose this shot because it was the riskiest and stood out. This is a hard angle and pose to pull off, but I definitely think you managed to do it. All of your limbs are so long and lean in this shot so you don't even seem short despite completely losing your torso and neck in the shot, which I don't even mind. Your face is also quite strong in the shot, your eyes have so much power and connection; and when you combine that with your pose, you look like some huntress getting ready to spring into action. Overall a very strong and creative shot, I love it. As for the challenge, you got 2 votes for strongest competition with the reasons being your great consistency and versatility as well as you tremendous potential, while you actually got 1 vote for the weakest because that voter feels your nasty, unprofessional attitude will cost you major jobs.
Jessica - I am really annoyed with the stylist because your outfit really cheapens this shot and makes it look sexier than it should be, though I do think you also could have toned down the sex appeal a notch. Anyway, cheap sexiness aside, I do think this is a great shot that does capture what I wanted this week; you do look weakened, exhausted, and desperate, all of which I mean in a good way, and the sultriness helps keep it attractive. Also, your body looks incredible, especially your legs, and I love the arch in your back and thrown up arm. Now, for the challenge, I was actually shocked by your results because you got 0 votes for the strongest but 2 votes for the weakest with your competitors saying you're "missing in action" and fading away, which I found confusing but that's their opinions, not mine.
Josephine - You look half-dead in this photo Josephine, which normally wouldn't be a compliment but that's what I was hoping for in this shoot. I love how you curled up on the ground, it really adds to the vulnerable, desperate, exhausted feel of the shot, and the softness of your face adds to the vulnerability as well. I do wish that you brought a bit more emotion with the expression though because that would help this stand out more and bring it from good to great, but overall well done. For the challenge, you got one vote for strongest competition with the reasoning being that you are unique, versatile, and a silent threat, while you also got 1 vote for weakest competition saying that you are fading and that your look is not strong enough to become a real muse, which is necessary to make it to the top of the industry.
Lily - It's funny, I almost had you ladies do an alien-themed photoshoot in front of Area 51 this week and this shot would have worked perfectly for that, but it works for this too. Your eyes are just so incredibly piercing in this shot, you look like you're ready to shoot laser beams out of them, and facially you look great as well. Your pose is pretty good, there is a lot of tension and you work the outfit, though you do look a little short and almost pregnant because of how you pushed out your midsection. Overall I'm impressed though. Now, for the challenge you got 0 votes for the strongest and 0.5 votes for the weakest, meaning that someone mentioned you as being tied for the weakest stating your inconsistency as your downfall.
