PYRAMID CEREMONY*the girls walk into their new judging room in Thailand*
Elle: Hi ladies. Welcome to Thailand. And welcome to your first judging in Thailand. Unfortunately, one of you has to head back to the States as we eliminate one more girl. This week you did a beauty shoot in the jungle with a gorgeous parrot and overall, I was impressed by some and let down by others. The structure for pyramid this week is 3-2-1 and the first girl on that bottom row of three is...
Juju.
Elle: This is huge surprise to me because I think you have such a great face, but on set it just wasn't the same Juju that we have seen throughout the competition. Normally, you're very creative, but this week it was just a flop.
Karlie: Unfortunately, I have to agree, Juju. It's a very pretty shot and you worked with the bird well, but you lose it in the eyes. It's just not convincing.
Cara: I definitely think it's one of your weakest shots to date, Juju. Like Karlie said, you lose it in the eyes. The eyes sell a beauty shot and you just did not deliver that.
Elle: Thanks, Juju. The next girl joining Juju on the bottom row is...
Sui.
Cara: I think it's a beautiful shot, but it's just really plain, Sui. It doesn't really pop for me and make me think "Wow! That's amazing!"
Elle: I feel like you've lost your edge, Sui. I remember you in the iD shoot and you nailed it on the first frame. If you brought that energy and that Sui to the shoot this week, you'd be on top of the pyramid.
Karlie: I like how elegant this shot is though. It's very poised and sophisticated and you look absolutely beautiful. I do think it's an expression we've seen before, so I want to see some variation.
Elle: Thanks, Sui. The final girl on the bottom row this week is...
Liu.
Karlie: It's ALMOST there. I feel like you're almost as fierce as you need to be to pull off this shot, but it is just coming up short. I like the intensity, but I think if it was more raw intensity, it would have worked better.
Elle: I don't know where Liu was on set, because she wasn't there. You really struggled to pull of the shot. Many of the shots were just mediocre or boring. You pulled this out at the end and it's a good shot, but it's not even close to the caliber that you've produced.
Cara: I really hope that being so consistent at the beginning and finally getting to the top of the pyramid hasn't caused you to become complacent in your position in the competition. The girls are all so strong this year so relying on past performances isn't enough anymore.
Elle: Thanks, Liu. The first girl in the middle row is...
Anna.
Elle: It was a big risk to shoot in black and white because you had so many vibrant colors to work with because the parrot was just gorgeous and I'm not sure the risk entirely paid off, but I love this shot. I think you've brought and edgier side which is nice because we've seen a lot of beautiful elegant shots from you.
Cara: I love your bone structure here and you're selling it in the eyes. They are staring down the barrel of the camera and looking straight into the photographer's eye. My one critique would be that you lost you neck here, but that's probably because you brought up your shoulders.
Karlie: I really wish this shot was in color because I think the whole point of the parrot was to bring vibrant colors, but I can't deny that it's a beautiful photograph.
Elle: Thanks, Anna.
Martha. Nicole. You are our top two this week! Both of you performed amazingly, but one of you came up just short and that girl is...
Nicole.
Elle: You're really the queen of getting second, aren't you. This is the fourth time you've been number two on the pyramid. Let's hope that isn't your fate in this competition.
Karlie: This is amazing, Nicole. I love the fierceness here. The wind is blowing and the hair is covering your face, but you're pushing through to give a great editorial shot. I love the raised shoulder, the strong cheekbone, and the piercing eye. Amazing job.
Cara: I really wish you were working with the bird more though. I guess I can't really fault you for that though because that's the photographer's direction, but it did make your job a little easier...
Elle: Thanks, Nicole. Well, that leaves...
Martha on top of the pyramid!
Elle: Now everyone has been on top of the pyramid at least once! This shot is brilliant, Martha. You're the only one who brought some emotion to the shot. I don't know how it fits the theme, but I love when girls bring emotion to a photo.
Cara: You sell it in the eyes. Some would say they look dead, but I think, like Elle said, it's a lot of emotion there. Your entire face is just perfection.
Karlie: And I like how you held the bird in a different way because all the other girls just put the bird on their shoulder like everyone would EXPECT, but you lifted your arm and did something different. It's easily your best shot to date.
Elle: Well, Martha. As the top girl this week, you have the ability to nominate two girls for elimination this week: Juju, Sui, or Liu. I'll give you some time to make your decision.
